HotelTonight – Find Hotels in Yuma at the Drop of a Hat
I recently found myself in southern Arizona for a series of business meetings. When the last day of meetings was canceled, I decided to spend a day exploring the city of Yuma. I'd never spent much time in Yuma and was excited to see what there was to see and do in the city. I knew that I wouldn't have any problem finding a place to stay thanks to the HotelTonight app, which left me free to enjoy a fun day.
The Area
Yuma is located in the southern corner of Arizona, near the borders of California and Mexico. The city is located near the confluence of the Gila and Colorado Rivers and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. Yuma is located in the Sonoran Desert and is a short drive from Mexicali and only two and a half hours away from San Diego. I was amazed at how many things there was to do. As I started exploring the city, I knew that spending the day in Yuma was a great decision that I wouldn't regret.
Things to Do
I was blown away at how many historical sights there are in Yuma. I always love being able to check out the local history of an area and Yuma was full of great things to see. I started my day off with a visit to an old territorial prison. Then I paid a visit to the Yuma Art Museum. I was amazed at how many great pieces of art the museum had and it made for a really enjoyable afternoon. There were a lot of other fun things to do in Yuma that I didn't have the time for. I'll have to make a trip back to Yuma the next time I'm in town.
The Food
After my day of sightseeing, I was feeling hungry and wanted to eat the best food that Yuma had to offer. I asked some locals and was led to a great little Mexican restaurant. The restaurant was owned by a local family and it was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Everything I had was delicious and was a great way to cap off my day in Yuma. I can't wait till the next time I am in town, so I can eat there again.
