HotelTonight – Ramona Hotels In Your Area
When people think of Southern California or, more specifically, San Diego County, they tend to think of things like the beach, surfing and generally living the lifestyle for which that part of the world has become famous. While this is a big part of the culture there, and it is a fantastic way to live, that perspective misses out on so much of that part of the world that's largely unexplored. There are little towns and communities all over the place in San Diego County that offer their own unique ways of living and existing together. I didn't realize this until recently either, but when I was in San Diego for work I found out on my penultimate day there that my schedule was cleared because of cancellations. I didn't want to sit around in my room and I didn't want to see parts of the city I had already seen. I wanted to get off the beaten path. I chose to spend 24 hours in Ramona. I wasn't sure what I was going to encounter, but I was sure that finding a Ramona hotel room would be simple. With my HotelTonight app, finding a place to stay is easy.
The Wine
One of the first things I heard about, and then went to see, when I got to Ramona was its series of wineries. I had no idea that Ramona or even Southern California made much wine, as I had always assumed that the folks in Northern California handled that. I was clearly wrong, and I got to see two different wineries that clearly know what they are doing. The vineyards are vast, the climate seems to agree with their grapes and the finished product was fantastic. I took a bunch of pictures and purchased a couple of bottles to bring home.
The… Camel Dairy?
One of the reasons I love smaller cities – and Ramona is home to fewer than 20,000 people – is because I've always found these hidden gems that you don't hear about much. That happened to me again in Ramona, as I found a camel ranch that was open to the public. Yes, they actually do have camels there, and they sell camel milk soap. I bought a few bards as gifts and some for myself. I also got to pet some camels and other farm animals and of course take a ton of photos. It was quite an experience.
The Cuisine
You can always find a great place to eat, even if you're in a smaller town, and that was definitely the case in Ramona. I asked around at the dairy and was told that there is a café that has been there for years and featured on national television that served incredible chicken fried steak. I had to try it, so I drove over there and ordered it. The people were right, as the meat was not only crispy and tasty but also very tender. The gravy and mashed potatoes made the whole thing perfect.

After such a big meal, it was time to call it a night. I had forgotten to book a Ramona hotel room, but that didn't matter as I had HotelTonight with me. I opened the app and booked a room within a few swipes. I couldn't wait to get some sleep after a fun-filled day.
