HotelTonight – Yountville Hotels are Available
When I drive through Napa country, I tend to lose myself in thought. I wonder what it would be like to be a winemaker or to own a vineyard. I wonder what it would be like to care for the grapes that ultimately become my product. I wonder what it would be like to live in one of these small communities that I drive past so often as I work. I'm a traveling salesperson, so I drive a lot, and I've gotten pretty good at making up stories about what life is like in some of these little communities. Somehow it took me until recently to realize that I could find out for myself what it was like, if I only made some time to do so. On my last trip through Northern California, I decided to do just that. I got a call while on the road that my next day of meetings were canceled, so there was no reason to keep driving if I didn't want to. I decided to stop for the day and night in a place called Yountville. I wasn't worried about finding a Yountville hotel room, as I travel with HotelTonight.
The Wine Industry
Yountville is a quintessential Napa town. It's home to only around 3,000 people, and it seems like everyone is in some way associated with the wine industry. I parked downtown and began to walk around a bit. Almost every business either sold wine, wine accessories or both. Almost every local I spoke to while walking told me about some tie to the wine industry, whether they were involved themselves or their family members were. Unlike a lot of industrial lines of work, the wine industry adds a lot of beauty to a place, as it certainly did to Yountville.
The Wineries
I could have spent a week touring wineries in the area and still not come close to seeing all of them. The land there is simply perfect for growing the grapes that ultimately become wine. I know this now because I did tour a couple of different wineries during the afternoon. I got to see the vineyards, see how the grapes were harvested, see how the wine was made and walk through the part of the wineries where the wine ferments. I even got to taste a few of them right out of the barrel.
The Dining
A fine wine community should mean that fine dining is available, and it most certainly is in Yountville. I went to an Italian restaurant that I had heard about during the day, and didn't have to wait long for a table. I ordered the lasagna along with a nice red wine, and before I knew it, I was sitting in front of it. The lasagna was out of this world – it was stacked about 3 inches high with pasta, meat and a tasty, tangy sauce. The wine that went with it, which was of course local, was delicious.
HotelTonight – Yountville Hotels in Seconds
I was full and ready to get some sleep. I opened the HotelTonight app on my phone and booked a Yountville hotel room in seconds. It was just up the road, so before long I'd be asleep in my comfortable bed, happy to have finally gotten to know one of these lovely communities.
