Located in western Idaho, near the Oregon border, Caldwell is the perfect mix of small town and big city. I was in Boise visiting friends and had the chance to spend a day in Caldwell, after my friend was called away on work. I headed to Caldwell looking to explore the city and see what it had to offer. I knew that I wouldn't have any problem finding a place to stay thanks to the HotelTonight app, so I was free to spend a carefree day seeing what Caldwell had to offer.
The City
I left the hustle and bustle of downtown Boise,and as I pulled into Caldwell I noticed that despite having all the amenities of a big city, it has the feel of a small town. Everything seemed close, and the people seemed friendly and happy. I spent some time wandering up and down the streets, enjoying popping in and out of boutique-style shops. I also noticed signs advertising equipment rental to go rafting and several hiking trails near the city. It seemed like no matter what you like to do, Caldwell has it all.
Things to Do
I spent the first part of my day in the city, window shopping and taking in the sights. I ended up sitting down in a cozy cafe and listened to some live music. It had a great atmosphere and the music was fantastic. I also noticed during my trip around town that there were several golf courses, bike paths and several parks. The city has a very energetic and active feel to it, and I could have spent a week in Caldwell trying all the different things to do.
The Food
After I spent much of my day enjoying the city, I decided it was time to find something to eat and started looking for the perfect place to grab a bite. A few locals in the cafe, where I was at earlier, had mentioned a steakhouse that was supposed to be amazing, so I headed there. The locals were right and the food was amazing. I had a perfectly cooked steak and a potato that was grown at a local farm. The food was so good, I wished I could have eaten more. After finishing up my meal, I was feeling tired and decided it was time to wrap up my day.
