HotelTonight – The Highlands Louisville Hotels
I have always enjoyed traveling to Louisville Kentucky and the surrounding area. It's one of those places in the world that has a little bit of everything to offer. If you want to get away from it all and take a look at gorgeous country, drive a bit out of Louisville and see Kentucky for what it is. If you want urban but traditional, Louisville has that as well. If you are looking for more of a modern approach to things, you've come to the right place as well. Louisville is multi-layered, and that means that there is something for everyone here. It's also incredibly welcoming, regardless of where you're from, what your background is and what you believe. I have been exploring Louisville for some time now and been digging deeper in hopes of really getting to know it. I was recently stuck there for 24 hours when a connecting flight was canceled and decided to spend those 24 hours exploring a neighborhood known as The Highlands. Wildlife
I've always found that neighborhood with zoos are desirable places for people to live for whatever reason. That's certainly the case in The Highlands. I decided to start my day at the Louisville Zoo as it had been a while since I had seen one. The zoo was lovely in every respect, and I found it interesting that almost everyone I spoke to there was a local, spending time at their zoo having fun. The zoo was very well laid out and managed, and I could have spent the entire day there but wanted to move on to other things.
The Parks
As long as I was spending so much time outside, I figured I might as well continue by walking through two of the local parks in The Highlands. Each was beautiful, and both were larger than I would have guessed. They were very well maintained like the zoo, and it was nice to talk to people who were there playing with their kids and their dogs. Local parks are a great way to get to know a place, and what I found here was that the people of The Highlands are happy where they live.
The Restaurants
There is a street in The Highlands known to locals as Restaurant Row, so there is certainly no shortage of places to eat there. I felt like pizza, and heard about a place that served great pizza as well as bread sticks that were soaked in garlic butter. I had an order of them, and they were amazing. There was the perfect amount of garlic mixed with hot and soft bread, but it wasn't heavy at all. I could've eaten many more.
