HotelTonight – St. Cloud Hotels Just for You
I spend a lot of time driving between cities such as Minneapolis and Fargo. As is usually the case with long drives, I tend to focus almost completely on my destination for the first half of the trip or so before I settle in and start focusing on what I'm going to need to do when I get there. As such, there have been many times when I've driven right past St. Cloud and many other communities without giving any of them a second thought. St. Cloud in particular is only about an hour away from Minneapolis, and at that point I'm usually just trying to make good time, as I've got at least 2.5 hours ahead of me. On my last drive along that route, I got a call not long after I left Minneapolis. My meetings in Fargo had been canceled, so I'd be flying home out of Minneapolis the next morning. Instead of heading back to the Twin Cities, I decided to spend the day and night in St. Cloud. I wasn't worried about finding lodging, as I'd book a St. Cloud hotel room with my HotelTonight app when I was ready.
Downtown
As soon as I pulled into downtown St. Cloud, I knew that I had made a good decision by spending the day here. I immediately felt like I had driven into a classic community in the Midwest. The tree-lined streets were all very well kept up, the businesses I saw were mostly locally-owned and small in size and the people I noticed were greeting each other not as strangers but as people who had been greeting each other their entire lives. Everyone I spoke to could not have been friendlier, and I felt at home almost instantly.
The Hiking
The iconic Mississippi River runs near St. Cloud, and I found a hiking trail that runs along the river. I love hiking, and I grabbed my shoes and hit the trail as soon as I could. I spent hours out there walking along what I found out was an old railroad track, with trees on one side of me and the river on the other. I must have taken over 100 photographs. I also appreciated that, since I was in the Midwest, the trail was nice and flat, making it easier for me to keep going and to see more.
The Dining
After all of that hiking, I was quite hungry. A couple on the hiking trail told me about a local microbrewery that was quite popular with the locals. I walked in and it was very nicely decorated. I ordered a local pilsner and it was very tasty. For whatever reason, I ordered some soft tacos because they looked good on someone else's table, and they were delicious. This was a nice, relaxed place where the locals come to take it easy, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the meal.
HotelTonight – St. Cloud Hotels in Seconds
I was full, tired and happy that I had made it a point to see one of the cities I often drive past. This is a wonderful community, but now I needed to rest. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a St. Cloud hotel room in a matter of seconds. I couldn't wait to fall into my bed, ready to take on the next day.
