HotelTonight – Cozad Hotels Just for You
I find it easy to lose myself, as I drive through the middle of Nebraska. It's relatively flat, there are cornfields for as far as the eye can see for several hours and there's rarely any traffic. It's a beautiful place in many different ways, and one of them is that the plains of Nebraska give me a chance to catch my breath and do some thinking. During one of my recent drives through the state, my thoughts led me to wonder why I never stopped to take a closer look at any of the communities that I speed past every time I'm on the highway. I didn't really have a good reason, other than the fact that I had meetings and obligations at my destination every time I got behind the wheel. On my last trip, I wound up having an extra 24 hours at my disposal due to some cancellations. I decided to explore one of these communities. I happened to be near Cozad at the time, so I stopped there. I wasn't concerned about finding lodging, either, as I travel with my HotelTonight app. I'd book a Cozad hotel room, as soon as I needed one.
The Museums
Cozad is a small city, as fewer than 4,000 people call it home. That's why I was surprised to see a couple of different museums in town as soon as I pulled in. I wanted to see both of them. I started at the art museum, and it's inside of an old home. The art is from the early portion of the 20th century, and it's very well maintained. The history museum offers a look at life in the town back to when it was founded in the 19th century. These were very entertaining places.
The Shops
One of the things I love about small towns is the shopping. I'm not normally some sort of shopaholic, but I like to browse the smaller businesses in these communities. I do so because it gives you a very good look at what the place is like and what the people who live there are like. Cozad's little shops offered just that. I walked through a few of them in the main part of town, and everyone I spoke to was as friendly as could be. I bought a few things for myself and others and enjoyed my afternoon.
The Dining
More than one person during the day told me about a local Italian restaurant when I brought up possibilities for dinner. I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. The place itself is nicely decorated on the inside, with tasteful furniture and simple accoutrements. I had the shrimp fettuccine, and it was scrumptious. The shrimp were big and plump and the pasta was cooked perfectly. I had a nice glass of Italian wine with it and talked with some of the other patrons while I ate.
