HotelTonight – Find The Perfect Hotel in Hampton, NH

The port city of Portsmouth, and its surrounding towns are some of the most unique destinations in New Hampshire. There's an air of Revolution here, and the towns are brimming with quintessential New England charm. I loved exploring Portsmouth, and its surrounding towns, such as Hampton and Exeter, and I found something unique to love about each new coastal town I visited. My New England adventure first began as a work trip to Boston. I loved the culture and the atmosphere of this traditional New England town so much that I decided to extend my trip and visit other surrounding towns, because I wanted to soak in the rich history and culture of this unique region of America. To find a great hotel in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, I checked out my HotelTonight app. Whenever I need to find a great hotel at a moments notice, I always know I can rely on HotelTonight. Later on that trip, I was able to search for hotels in Hampton and Exeter on HotelTonight, and my spontaneous travels through New Hampshire wouldn't have been nearly as easy or as carefree if I didn't have the HotelTonight app on my phone.

Great Bay

The Great Bay has become known as New Hampshire's "hidden coast," and it's unique because it's the meeting place of the saltwater Atlantic and the freshwater Piscataqua River. This makes the Great Bay not only a beautiful body of water, but also a diverse and special natural habitat. In addition to admiring the natural beauty of the Great Bay, you can also enjoy a number of recreational activities here, such as boating, kayaking, hiking and bird watching. I spent a long morning enjoying this nature lover's paradise, and it gave me an immense appreciation for the New Hampshire coast.

Water Street

After a morning immersed in nature at the Great Bay, I headed into downtown Exeter, one of the most charming New England towns I've visited to date. I found one street to be particularly appealing – Water Street. This idyllic street in downtown Exeter is a popular pedestrian walkway dotted with adorable shops, restaurants and cafes. Down on Water Street, you'll see locals who have lived in Exeter for decades as well as young college students who are still getting to know the town. I soaked in as much of the local culture and lifestyle as I could while wandering down Water Street.

Old Towne

As the oldest neighborhood in New Hampshire, Old Towne Portsmouth is well worth a visit for anyone who loves history. This old, well-preserved neighborhood overflows with historic sites, such as the Hill House, the Commodore Theatre, the Jackson House, and Market Square – and that's barely scratching the surface. Everywhere you go in this historic downtown, you'll see beautiful old buildings and you'll feel the rich history and culture of this New England port town.

Beaches

Along this coastal region of New Hampshire, there are many beautiful beaches worth visiting. As a West Coast resident, I didn't have high expectations for these East Coast beaches, if I'm being honest, but the beaches of New Hampshire blew me away. In particular, Hampton Beach wowed me with its wide stretch of luxurious sand and its welcoming, laidback coastal vibes. After spending an afternoon at Hampton Beach, I understood why so many New England locals flock to this beach during the summer. The atmosphere and the natural beauty are hard to beat, and I walked away with a new love for East Coast beaches.

The Boardwalk

Widely considered one of the best boardwalks on the East Coast, the boardwalk in Hampton, New Hampshire is hard to avoid when you're visiting this beach town. It feels like the quintessential boardwalk, lined with beach shops, cafes and restaurants. This lively boardwalk is the place to go when you want food, drinks or entertainment in Hampton, and I spent a very fun evening at the boardwalk's most popular spots. Exploring the boardwalk gave me a great feel for what daily life is like in Hampton, and it gave me an even better idea of why this beach town is such a popular summer destination for East Coasters.
