HotelTonight – Dilworth Charlotte Hotels
Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the crown jewels of the southeastern United States. It is all at once cosmopolitan, modern, traditional and historic. Basically, that means that there is something here for everyone. I can speak to that on a firsthand basis, as I have been there many times and have always enjoyed my time there. Unfortunately, several years passed between visits, and given Charlotte's growth, it was almost as if I encountered a new city when I finally returned. That prompted me to make the decision to start exploring it all over again, since my new job would be taking me there regularly. I decided to extend my stays by 24 hours after my work obligations were complete, which gave me an entire day to look around. Instead of trying to see the entire city in a whirlwind, I chose to explore one neighborhood per visit. I chose to spend my time in Dilworth my last time there. The Quaint Shops
As soon as I set foot in Dilworth, I felt like I had traveled back to a time when things were different. It was a very warm day, but the trees that covered the sidewalks provided some very soothing shade. That was good, as it gave me a better opportunity to browse some of the quaint little shops that lined the streets. I saw little antiques, stores with locally handmade crafts and clothing that was so vintage I forgot that some of the styles had ever existed. It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip back in time, and one that I didn't want to end.
The Families
Perhaps another reason that this whole area seemed like a snapshot from a bygone era was because there were so many families out and about enjoying the sunny day, as warm as it was. I'm not just talking about parents and small children, either, as I saw kids as young as a few weeks old and grandparents and great grandparents all walking together and having a grand old time. There was a peaceful element to all of this that is hard to describe now, but I guess what I was feeling was a true sense of community.
The Restaurants
There was something for everyone in terms of the restaurants as well, and I wanted a chocolate shake, a hamburger and French fries. I don't know why, but I just did. I was told about a place that could accommodate my wishes, and I went in and ordered. The shake came in one of those metal containers, keeping it cold and creamy. The burger and fries were perfectly cooked all around, and I could not have enjoyed my meal any more.
