HotelTonight – Gresham, Oregon Hotels Are Available
Who wouldn't want to spend at least a little bit of time in a city that sits between the Columbia River and Mount Hood? Imagine having the option of spending time at either, or both, on any given day. The people who live there must have a lot going for them, and their community must be one that's quite vibrant. I had always assumed that, but until recently I had no idea if that was accurate or not. Despite my best efforts, multiple trips to Portland for business never allowed me the time necessary to get out and see Gresham for myself. That all changed on my last trip, though, and that was a fortunate development as it turned out. My last day of a week-long set of meetings in Portland was canceled at the last minute, which meant that I had 24 hours to do what I wanted. I didn't want to fly home early, so I agreed to handle my own lodging that night. It wasn't going to be a problem anyway, as I always travel with my HotelTonight app. I'd book a Gresham, Oregon hotel room as soon as I needed one.
The Parks
A city that sits near two world-renowned beauties of nature must have a lot going for it in terms of outdoor activities, and that turned out to be the case with Gresham. For a city of just over 100,000 people, there were parks seemingly everywhere, and I wanted to get out and enjoy the fresh air along with the hundreds of others I saw doing the same thing. I walked through three different beautiful parks, and it gave me a chance to talk with a few locals who were out and about chasing their dogs and the sunshine.
The Vibe
After spending time in the greenery of the parks, I wanted to get back into the city a bit. I headed back downtown and stopped in at a coffee shop. It wasn't long before I was talking with a couple of the friendly locals there. They told me that there was a lot of history there, as the town dates back to the 19th Century. There are also a lot of legacies there according to them, as most of the people they know have had their families living there for generations. This is a closely-knit, safe and friendly community.
The Dining
For whatever reason, I felt like digging into a big, juicy hamburger with a nice cold beer when it got to be dinnertime. One of the people in the coffee shop told me about a place that served their burgers big and their beers local, so that's where I went. The place looked like a classic pub. There were all sorts of beer selections, and I went with a local IPA. They serve their burgers in red plastic baskets with the checkered wax paper, giving the entire thing a homey feel. The burgers themselves? Fantastic.

I was full, tired and happy to have seen this lovely community. I opened my HotelTonight app and booked a Gresham hotel room. I'm glad it only took a minute, as I was ready to crash. With the hotel only a couple of blocks away, I started my walk over there, looking forward to a shower and to wake the next morning ready to head home.
