HotelTonight – Rapid City Hotels
I was recently making a long drive from Washington to Minnesota. After several hours on the road, I needed a break and pulled off the road in Rapid City. I'd never been to Rapid City before but had heard it was a great place to visit. I knew I wouldn't have a problem finding a place to stay, even on short notice thanks to the HotelTonight app. The app took all the stress of finding a place to stay, which left me free to enjoy a great day in the city.
The Area
Rapid City is the county seat of Pennington County and is located in western South Dakota and is the second biggest city in the state. The city sits at the foot of the Black Hills mountain ridge and is just a short drive from several attractions such as the old west town of Deadwood, Mount Rushmore and several state and national parks. I could tell, as I pulled into town that I was going to love my day in Rapid City. I couldn't wait to see what there was to do in town.
Things to Do
I decided to start off my day with a trip to Mt. Rushmore. It was just a 30-minute drive and it was totally worth the trip. It was awe inspiring to see it up close and in person. Then I headed to a historic trading post. It was like stepping back in time and really captured the feeling of an old west trading post. Rapid City had so many museums and historical sights, I could have spent a week taking in all the sights that Rapid City had to offer.
The Food
I was feeling hungry after my day of sightseeing and wanted to get something to eat. I asked around and some locals told me I had to grab a bite at this local cafe. The food was great and the restaurant had a really cool atmosphere. I ordered a club sandwich and a side of fries and the food was delicious. In addition to the nice atmosphere and great food, the diner had great service and everyone was so friendly. I'll make sure to come back to the restaurant during my next trip through Rapid City.

After a great day in Rapid City and a wonderful dinner, I was feeling tired and ready to relax.
