I actually decided to visit Tyler during its annual Rose Festival, which draws visitors from all over Texas, as well as from other states, but I loved this beautiful city so much that I ended up extending my stay so that I could explore it more. All over Tyler, you'll find beautiful, stately old homes and historic buildings, great shopping and dining and, of course, colorful rose gardens. There's so much beauty and joy in Tyler, Texas which is why I quickly fell in love with the city. When I decided to stay in Tyler a couple more days than I had originally planned, I didn't panic and start scouring the internet for a hotel. Downtown is the beating heart of Tyler, as it's where you'll find all of the best entertainment, dining, and shopping. Downtown Tyler is also known for its beautiful old historic buildings, which you can't miss while walking through the streets of downtown. With so many gorgeous lakes in the area, locals take full advantage of days with beautiful weather and head toward the water. Fishing, swimming, and kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and waterskiing are all very popular in Tyler, Texas.

The small city of Tyler places a big emphasis on the arts. Tyler boasts great galleries, museums and performing arts venues. I asked locals for recommendations of what to do and see in their town in regards to the arts, and they suggested I see the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, the Gallery Main Street, Liberty Hall, the Tyler Museum of Art and the Tyler Rose Museum. Tyler's rich artistic and cultural offerings surprised and impressed me, and it made me understand why locals love their town so much.
