It wouldn't be surprising if you have never heard of Lusk, Wyoming before. After all, this town is home to less than 2,000 people and is located in the least populated county in the least populated state in the country, so it's certainly not on the radar of most travelers. I, however, like to explore destinations that are underrated or unknown, which is why I decided to stay in Lusk, Wyoming during a recent cross-country road trip. Lusk was founded by famed rancher, Frank S. Lusk, back in 1886. Since then, the town has been primarily a ranching town, and cattle ranching is the main industry in Lusk. Since I wanted to get a real feel for what daily life is like in Lusk, I decided to visit a ranch while in town. After all, I was in the Cowboy State, and as a "city slicker" myself, I felt like I needed a real modern cowboy to explain to me all the ins and outs of ranching. After my quick visit to the ranch, I felt like I really understood the people and the community of Lusk.
Outdoor Recreation
No matter which town you stumble upon in Wyoming, you can bet that it will be surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, as Wyoming is one of the most naturally diverse and picturesque states in the country. Because of that, there's no shortage of things to do and see outdoors. Whether you want to go fishing, hunting, hiking or mountain biking, it's all just a short drive away from the center of Lusk.
