HotelTonight – Downtown Seattle Hotels in Seconds

There are certain cities in the world that are so filled with personality that you can feel it surrounding you as you walk around and spend time there. Seattle is one of those cities. It's long been a cultural center for Americans, and I've always enjoyed my time there. The only problem, as I saw it until recently, was that I was only ever there for work, so other than a few restaurants I never had time to really explore it. I wanted to change all of that, so before my last business trip there I changed my return flight by 24 hours. I wanted an extra day to see what there is to see, and I wanted to spend the entire day downtown, as there's so much happening there I was sure I'd have a full day of exploring to do. I wasn't worried about accommodations, either, as I always travel with HotelTonight, a powerful app that helps people find lodging in real-time. I'd have no trouble finding a downtown Seattle hotel when I was ready. Meantime, I couldn't wait to get started on my adventure.

Getting Around

The last thing you'll need as you explore downtown Seattle is a vehicle. In fact, having to deal with a car is more trouble than it's worth. Downtown Seattle is made for walking, and that's exactly what I did. This is a part of town that is packed with things to do and things to see, but it's not very big in a geographic sense. I was able to walk through most of downtown quite easily within a day, and that was actually a very efficient way to experience more things than if I had been driving.

The Vibe

I'm not sure I've been to a city anywhere in the world where there was more of an exuberant buzz than there was in downtown Seattle. Everyone there had something to do, and it seemed as though everyone was happy to be doing what they were doing. I saw a lot of young professionals milling about between meetings, students doing their thing and musicians and artists either performing or getting ready to perform somewhere. It was a fascinating mosaic of people from all different walks of life, but their happiness was a commonality that was more than noticeable.

The Seafood

You can't spend time in downtown Seattle without trying some of their seafood, as that's one of the things for which this city is known around the world. I decided to eat dinner at a local place that specialized in it, and I was glad I did. I had fresh--and I mean really fresh--salmon that was crusted with almonds, and it was so tasty it was hard to believe. I also enjoyed a nice local craft beer with it. It was a tremendous meal.

HotelTonight – Downtown Seattle Hotels at the Ready

After such a nice dinner, it was time to call it a day and find my downtown Seattle hotel room. I pulled out my phone, opened HotelTonight and found one within a couple of blocks of where I was at the time. I booked it and made my way there, happy to fall into such a comfortable bed.
